Towing charges for warranty failures

Effective immediately, VMans's warranty statement for towing changes will be revised as follows:

VMan will pay towing charge ($500.00 Max.) in the event of a major unit failure during the warranty period

VMan Reman, Inc. Reman units are warranted for parts and labor to repair or replace the subject unit due to defects in material or workmanship. Warranty labor coverages are at reasonable and conventional labor charges and are subject to management approval.

Vman Reman, Inc. will supply customers with charge accounts in good standing a replacement for units that are suspected to have failed under warranty. This is offered as a service to our customers to allow them to get their trucks back on the road quickly. When we receive the failed unit we will inspect to verify warrantable coverage. If the failure is not a warrantable failure, the customers account will be charged for the replacement unit. Customers who do not have a charge account, or their charge account is not in good standing must pay for any replacement units before delivery. Once the failed unit is inspected and if the failure was a warrantable failure, the customer will be issued a refund for the replacement unit. VMan Reman, Inc. Reman unit warranty does not cover normal wear and tear; nor does it cover a unit that fails, malfunctions, or is damaged as a result of:

  1. Improper installation, adjustment, repair, or modification.
  2. Accident, natural disaster, abuse, or improper use [including, but not limited to high velocity spin damage and shock load damage].
  3. Improper or insufficient maintenance [including, but not limited to improper lube levels, improper lube change intervals, or using improper lubricants].

VMan Reman, Inc. will not be liable for any perceived loss due to a warrantable failure including, but not limited to downtime, loss of productivity, economic loss, inconvenience, vehicle rental expense, lodging, meals, or other travel costs. VMan Reman, Inc. reserves the right to dictate how and where warranty service is performed.

VMan Reman, Inc. will pay, in connection with a warrantable failure, any towing service expense incurred to bring a unit to a service facility dictated by VMan Reman, Inc. The manner in which this expense is covered is with a credit to the customer’s account with VMan Reman, Inc., after the customer has paid for the towing service and submitted a copy of the invoice to VMan Reman, Inc. [Customers without charge accounts will receive their credit within 14 days in the form of a check].

VMan Reman, Inc. labor rate paid for warranty repairs will be negotiated at the time of warranty repair. The reasonable and conventional amount of time to perform any repair is subject to VMan Reman, Inc. management review and discretion. Any unit repaired or replaced under warranty retains the original warranty period. The warranty period is not extended or restarted due to a warranty claim.

Any new items sold or installed by VMan Reman, Inc. that fails is subject to the original manufacturer’s warranty coverages, labor and towing policies. [Such as Eaton Clutches].

Reman Unit Return Criteria

  • Regularly Stocked Reman Units are accepted without penalty if returned within 60 days of the original purchase date and if they are still in the original packaging.
  • Regularly Stocked Reman Units that have been returned after 60 days from the original purchase date or that have the original packaging material removed are subject to the charges listed in the Reman Unit Restocking Fee Chart below.
  • Units that have been installed or modified will be charged in accordance with the cost to return them to original condition plus the return fee listed in the Reman Unit Restocking Fee Chart below.
  • Verification of the serial number and packaging must be provided by email before the Regularly Stocked Reman Units will be authorized for return directly to a warehouse or PDC (Product Distribution Center). Contact the Return Coordinator for further information.
  • Special Order Reman Units are not returnable.
  • Customer is responsible for all return freight charges.
  • Refunds will be credited to the customer’s charge account. If no charge account exists, a check will be issued within 14 business days.

CORE POLICY ▼
  1. Unless prior arrangements have been made, all invoices are to be paid in full including any core charges. Short paying core charges will not be accepted. Any core being returned for credit against an invoice where the core charge has been “short paid” will be subject to a 50% reduction in the core credit allowance.
  2. All cores must be returned within 45 days of the original invoice date to be elligible for full credit. Any core returned after 45 days up to 90 days will be subject to a $100.00 late fee, which will be deducted from the core credit allowance. Cores will be deducted from your core bank after 90 days and will no longer be eligible for credit unless prior arrangements have been made.
  3. If you are stocking units at your facility, you must notify us in writing within 24 hours of selling a unit to your customer. This information should include your company name, location, phone number, contact name, the unit model number, our serial number and the date of sale to your customer.
  4. All cores are to be returned via carrier of our choice to: Reman Division, 1900 Chicago Dr. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49519. You should receive a packet with any Reman unit that you purchase that will contain a Bill of Lading that is already completed for our desired freight carrier in your region. When the core is ready to be returned, contact the carrier that we have suggested to schedule a pick-up. Do not return cores using a non-approved freight carrier as any extra freight charges that we incur will be charged back to your account.
  5. All cores are to be returned with our core tag attached. You will find this core tag in the same packet as the Bill of Lading, or it may be in a clear packing list envelope on the unit itself. Please make sure that this core tag is securely attached to the core upon return, as this helps to insure that the core credit is applied to the correct account and towards the correct invoice. It is also helpful to have some kind of identification such as a shipping label or tag attached to the core to help us identify where the core came from.
  6. All cores are subject to a visual inspection upon return. Some cores may be subject to a reduced credit allowance based on athe following criteria. Transmissions with a visibly broken main case will be subject up to a $600.00 reduction in your core credit allowance. Differentials with a visibly bad or broken carrier & caps are subject up to a $250.00 reduction in your core credit allowance. Any transmission or differential that is burned up due to improper lube levels, units that have been exposed to fire or units that have severe rust as a result of prolonged weather exposure will not be acceptable for any core credit allowance. When these cases arise you will be notified by phone. Any cores that will not be accepted may be returned to you F.O.B. Grand Rapids, or scrapped at your discretion. Please carefully inspect the cores that you receive from your customers. If there are any questions or concerns on core credit allowances, please contact your customer service representative.
  7. All cores must be like for like, unless prior arrangements have been made.
  8. Cores may be returned unassembled, but must be reasonably packaged and 100% complete.
